THUNG KULA LAKE There is a beautiful blue lake called “Thung Kula Lake” located in Ban Phon Mueang, Phrai Khala Sub-district, Chumphon Buri District, Surin.  This place used to be called Thung Kula Rong Hai. Nowadays, the lake is a water catchment area of the royal project called “the Monkey Cheek Project.”   It is used as a reservoir to store water for agricultural purposes. The depth is around 1 to 4 metres. The total size of the lake is 150 rai, and the area around the lake is 750 rai. At first, the water had a brown, muddy colour after the excavation. Later, it turned into incredible clear blue colour. It is assumed that this area used to be a source of brackish water and salt making in the past. That is why the water has the clear blue colour of the sea. From Surin City, go northwards taking Highway No. 214 and drive on about 60 kilometres.
